Sun, sea and fish….

With the racing out of the way, adventure called. Cape Town’s weather seems to have two modes – Amazing and don’t venture outside, fortunately, it was absolutely amazing. Clear skies and a warm breeze made the mountain look ever so epic looming over the bustling city.

An Uber was ordered and its destination – The V and A Waterfront. A shopping mall, harbor, historic goldmine, and aquarium, boredom cannot stand a chance when there is just so much to see and do. Armed with my Olympus the idea was simple to capture the beauty and heritage this place has to offer.

Starting with the Old Port Captains building (Built 1904) next to the swing bridge ( built 1997).The swing bridge allows boats to carry on their business in the active harbor while allowing sight seekers the chance to cross over the ocean.  The bridge connects the Alfred and Victoria basin, these basins were built between 1860 and 1920, with a sense of urgency to protect the vessels from the Capes harsh winter storms.P9100657.jpg

Think of the sea and you get –waves, sand and…. Seagulls. Lots and lots of seagulls, simply watching the constant movement of busy tourists, waiting for the right moment to swoop in and steal a meal or simply leave the remnants of that meal on an unsuspecting victim.

After a delicious lunch it was time to venture under the sea to the Two Oceans Aquarium. Sea creatures of every size, color, and shape filled the luminously lit tanks. Even Bruce the Shark enjoyed his rather tasty lunch.

Tanks lined every wall with exciting and odd looking creatures, a maze of water guiding you to a tunnel, a tunnel under the ocean. With Manta rays gliding just above your head who would complain. A completely different perspective from always being above it.

With the variety in just one small building, one has to wonder if we will ever find every single creature on our amazing planet.

With the sun soon to set, a new destination was in order, So off to Sea Point Promenade to capture those last few rays of the warm glow, Unfortunately with bad weather rolling in the sunset wasn’t as spectacular as hoped for but still way better than a sunset away from the sea.

Photographing historic buildings, lots of Nemo’s and a fiery ball made for a rather wonderful day.

Watch this space for my final day of my extended adventure in Cape Town.
